Unicorn Song

parr method holistic teaching artist branding

Back in the day when I was auditioning for Broadway, doing showcases around LA and such I had a unicorn song. It was If Only You Knew by Patti LaBelle. It didn't matter what I was singing for - MT, R&B, TV, BVs for a tour... that was my song. I got call backs and I booked gigs.

I LOVED the song, I sang the sh*t out of it + you know what the lyrics say? If only you knew how much I do, I do love you. over and over - I was telling that casting table, If only you knew how much I love you. Who doesn't want to hear that? And young me sang it with the longing, loneliness and need I had from my sweet, joyful, naive heart.

And singing it over and over, I knew it so deeply I could let go and emotionally connect, improvise melodies and be free.
